The KBD8948X Bowie-Dick Test Card Kit is a complete solution for verifying air removal efficiency in vacuum-assisted steam sterilizers. Each kit pairs a single-use chemical indicator card with a reusable stainless-steel holder (BD8948H), giving sterilization teams a reliable, repeatable way to confirm that the pre-vacuum phase of their cycle is performing as intended.

What It Does

Air removal is one of the most critical — and most easily compromised — steps in vacuum-assisted steam sterilization. If residual air pockets remain in the chamber, steam penetration is uneven and sterility cannot be guaranteed, even if the rest of the cycle runs correctly. The KBD8948X gives operators a fast, visual way to catch this failure mode before it becomes a patient safety or product quality issue.

Key Benefit

The indicator card delivers an unambiguous purple-to-green color change when air removal is adequate. If air removal is insufficient, the color change is heterogeneous — visible purple remains on the card — providing an immediate, easy-to-read signal that the sterilizer requires investigation before use.
